Here's a Preview of Another New Project
COMPLEX NUMBERS

Complex Numbers is a project in the tradition of my three earlier text/image based books, Signal to Noise (1988), Dry Reading (1991), and Mars Observations (2001). Complex Numbers might eventually end up as a book, but right now is developing in web-based form. Currently I have a large number of photographs and one interactive piece in place. Please take a look.

The Mugshot Machine Converted to Flash!
Use it Here!

In 2005 I created the Mugshot Machine, a program inspired by the classic photobooths of the mid 20th century. Shortly after I released it Apple came out with a similar program, PhotoBooth, which they give away with their computers. I stopped development on the Mugshot Machine at that time, but because it had a number of unique features, made it available on this site for free download. Recently I needed a project to brush up on my Actionscript 3.0 skills so I decided to make a version of it to run in Flash in a web browser. It's still beta software, but I thought I would make it available for testing now. If you have a video camera or webcam connected to your computer try it out and let me know how it goes. I am going to create a Mugshot Machine slide show so please email me your best work so I can include it! Future features may include things like direct Flickr integration. You can link to the new Flash Mugshot Machine here and the original stand-alone Macintosh version here.
